IF YOU CHOOSE TO RENT FROM THE OLD POST BOOKSTORE, THEN YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION
The rental fee for any rented textbook or item such as calculators or keyboards is paid to use the textbook or item for one semester or term only. We have two such terms: Fall and Spring. If you need to use the textbook or item for more than one semester or term, it may be in your best interest to purchase the item. If you have already rented the item, and you discover that you need to keep it, please contact rental management immediately to discuss your needs and make arrangements to purchase.
Rented textbooks or items should be returned to us here at the Old Post Bookstore located in the Beckes Student Union any time before the last day of Final Exams for the semester in which the book or item was rented to avoid your student account being charged for the full replacement price. Late rentals may or may not by accepted for return. If they are accepted, they are subject to late fees equal to the amount of the past or current rental fee. Rental return deadlines are in place for many reasons, therefore, some late rentals may not be accepted for return or credit at all.
Rentals may also be shipped back to us as long as the packages are postmarked on or before the due date. If they are postmarked on or before the due date, we will accept them as being returned on time. Keep in mind that we do not reimburse shipping costs or provide prepaid shipping labels. We are not responsible for lost or damaged packages. We do recommend purchasing insurance, package tracking capabilities and/or delivery confirmation with signature proof from the shipper that you choose.
Include the name of the student, the Student ID# / A#, telephone number, and address inside the package with the rentals and ship the package to:
Old Post Bookstore
Attn: Rental Returns
1101 N. 2nd Street
Vincennes, IN 47591
Be aware that if you sell any textbook or item that was rented from us to any book buyer, including ours, your student account will be charged for the full price of a new replacement item. If you receive any money for returning your rental, the rental was not properly returned and credited to your account. Do not accept the money. Keep the rental and ask to speak with rental management immediately.
Take care of the textbooks or items that you rent just as you would your own property. They are valuable. We are not responsible for items that are damaged in any way (water damage / missing book covers / missing pages / etcetera) and we will not accept the return of damaged rentals. Your student account will be charged for new replacement costs. We are also not responsible for the loss or theft of rented textbooks or items. Again, your student account will be charged for new replacement costs.
We try our very best to help you with your rentals, but they are ultimately your responsibility. The back of each rental book or item should have a blue and white sticker to identify it as a rental. These stickers may come off during use, but it is still your responsibility to know which books you have rented and when they need to be returned. The rentals are also marked on your receipt. Rental return reminders are sent to the email address that we have in our system. If we do not have an email address on file, or if the email address is incorrect or if it has changed without notice, a rental return reminder may not be received, and we will not be held responsible. Any and all rental reminders sent are a courtesy. We also post reminders on our Facebook page "Old Post Bookstore", and on the "Vincennes University Parent and Family Services" Facebook page. Please "Like" these pages and join these groups to receive these notifications.
It is highly recommended to keep all of your receipts.
