What is VU First Day Book?

VU First Day Book is an Inclusive Access Program that allows students access to the required course materials in digital format on the first day of class.  VU First Day provides an affordable option that is easy to use and promotes student success by providing each student with their course materials the first day of class.  VU First Day course materials are digital versions of the physical textbooks required for the course. Depending on the adopted materials, VU First Day course materials may include additional resources such as videos, quizzes, workbooks and interactive tutorials.

What are the benefits of VU First Day Book?

• The cost of VU First Day materials are at the lowest price available from the publishers.

• Students will have access to their materials on day one, leading to greater student success.

• Students will have a more interactive learning experience with VU First Day Book.

• VU First Day Book materials are accessible through the internet.  They go where you go.

What if the student wants a physical copy of the textbook?

Most publishers give students the option of purchasing an affordable loose-leaf copy of the book through the bookstore.  The student may also “Opt-Out” of the program and purchase the required materials from the bookstore.

How do students pay for their VU First Day Book material?

When a student registers in a participating VU First Day Book course, their student account will automatically be charged for the cost of the VU First Day Book materials associated with that course.  The student will then have the entire first week of school to either remain in the program or “Opt-Out”.  If the student  chooses to “Opt-Out” of the program before the deadline, the charge will be removed from their student account.

How do students access VU First Day Book course materials?

VU First Day Book course materials will become available the day before courses begin.  Students will access their material through Blackboard.   Students also will receive an email containing access instructions, pricing and opt-out information.

What if a student needs help accessing their VU First Day Book material?
